His death has left a crazy vacuum in a country run on crazy. Give 'em a break, they’re trying their best. There's a good article covering this interesting part of the change in power. From the article:

Hey, it's better than being a hypnotoad.

Nevermind, just realized that what I'm thinking is South America is really the Yucatan. But still the image is whacky: The entire globe is dominated by North and Central America. You can't see ANY of South America. Looking at this you would think the equator is on the Tropic of Cancer.

There's something very wrong with this picture. Where's the Yucatan peninsula? Central America? It's like Mexico just turns into Columbia.

That's the Salton Sea! Very interesting background; it's a huge man-made ecological disaster turned attempted development project turned back into a huge ecological disaster. io9 has done a few pieces on it:

I get it, but they're not showing footage of a bicyclist strolling the valley floor in Yosemite, they're showing extreme sports footage with captions saying "Be a hero".

Good God. Where's my towel?

I found it interesting that Kirk's last words, "Oh my", were not too far from Steve Jobs last words "Oh wow". Just what have they realized?

Fanboys will be fanboys, after all....

The Occupy Movement is a bunch of misguided, haphazard, hypocrites? Or were you being rhetorical?

I was just saying to someone that if they do announce dividends, it may signal the beginning of the end (as was the case with MSFT). But with $97Bn, they need to do SOMETHING with it, so why not give it to me?

*That is, if it were actually cash.

Looking at their last 10-Q, LT marketable securities are comprised of U.S. Treasury securities (~15%), U.S. agency securities (~14%), Non-U.S. government securities (~9%), Certificates of deposit and time deposits (~6%), Commercial paper (~9%), Corporate securities (~43%), and Municipal securities (~5%).

Bought at about the same price in '06 as well. Sold half my holdings when the price doubled, and still bang my head against the desk over it. Still, you can't be mad at a 100% gain.

$97Bn in cash? I think it's time for dividends. What could you possibly do with $97Bn? Even after buying every feasible acquisition target, suing Google to the moon, and building space-ship campuses to do it all in, you'd STILL have tens of billions left over.

I guess "Sandstorm Is So Big That It Could Eat The Entire Sahara Desert" just doesn't have the same impact, does it?

I was just thinking this while watching a GoPro commercial this morning. You watch a guy ski off a cliff, causing an avalanche, and then parachuting to the valley floor. An awesome vid no doubt, but the commercial says something like "Be a hero" (I think). Are they really encouraging people to strap on cameras and

It's sorta like this....
