“I don’t condone any violence, but”

Don’t let the facts get in the way of your feelings. That’s frowned upon here.

This is why I stopped posting on Jezebel. No one here seems to value critical thinking, just feelings.

“Poor girl”? You mean the murderer?

It’s funny how people are just instantly believing the murderer just because she’s a woman of color and has a sad story. There are even people here bashing her mother, but she can’t defend herself, since she was murdered.

Thing is...a dead person can’t talk. Unless there are unbiased witnesses (and those may be far and few in between because this girl may inherit $ she can throw around later), who knows if this little creep is telling the truth. I would seriously triple check everything she says. Not saying there is not something wrong

But what about the sob story? That should be the only piece of information people use to judge how they feel about this case

Wow, just wow at all the people basically apologizing for her and her bf murdering someone. It’s actually scary to see how so many people are so easily manipulated by a sob story.

Why Bali? Because they’re fucking idiots. What part of this story indicates otherwise?

Yup. The Chicago Tribune wrote a lot about their relationship when this story first broke. The mother’s friends were quoted as saying that she was regularly assaulted by Heather, and that the police had been called to their house 80 or so times.

She contradicts everything that has previously been written about this case. There are texts that indicate she and her boyfriend planned the murder. Their relationship was complicated alright - but don’t believe she wasn’t involved in her mother’s death.

Was this interview before or after they published the text messages between Mack, Schaefer, and Schaefer’s cousin in which they detail their plans to kill von Wiese-Mack? Those were released last week, as far as I know.

At no point in the process, start, middle, or end, does smashing up stores become a viable course of action. I don’t care how frusterated these people were, what they did was still childish and wrong.

Hey, revolutionary warrior on the internet, a whole lot of kids and innocents are going to get dead and burned in your smug masturbatory fantasy. But you go ahead and finish, because we know how much it means to you to spaff your asinine, chucklefucking, class-warring effluvia all over the place. Just don’t forget to

Dollars to donuts, those aren’t local residents.

This is...ridiculous...on all fronts. Relative deprivation and housing scarcity are serious problems in all of East London, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what a cereal cafe has to do with that. It’s hardly the first or most egregious sign of gentrification in fucking Shoreditch. Shoreditch is basically

because attacking the independently owned small business is definitely the best way to fight gentrification.

No, just Canadian.

I’m absolutely for reducing/reforming incarceration, but the idea that we can just let the non-violent offenders walk and end mass incarceration isn’t accurate. TNC’s latest piece goes into this very well.

I have kind of a weird fascination with prison abolition essays. They never really have a very persuasive answer (or at least one that’s bound to gain traction) for the “serial killer next door”. The two arguments I rebuttals I recall are, “Well, maybe everyone should be more armed,” and “Once we end capitalism, there
