As I’ve said elsewhere, I do agree that the showrunners are locked in to certain things because of the source material. However, pretending they have not made a variety of tweaks to the plots is simply untrue. Some of the problems exist very much in both places —Jamie, Claire and everyone else having to make illogical…

As a giant fan of the books: the writer is absolutely correct. The framing of this episode, compression of the storylines, and especially the writing of Claire’s character all contributed to a nuanced story being reduced to a plot device to get our characters to the next place.

I thought the same thing about the colonialism, and therefore noticed that the camera constantly managed to find the ONE white blue-eyed slave in that bunch over and over and over again.
