In a perfect world, we could trust our government enough to hand over this kind of power, and reap whatever security rewards it provided. Unfortunately, we do not live in that perfect world. People will always be people, even once they become leaders. The biggest problem is that neither the leaders, nor the people,

@RandomNickname: I mean awkward in the sense that they became so popular on the backs of the people violating their IP rights. Now, they are bigger and more directly involved in the phone wars, and have more reason to care about such rights. But, they have to tread lightly, so as not to piss off their cult following.

@doctorrobert: Firstly, habeas corpus has been suspended in this country in the past, during times of war, as you probably know, going all the way back to the Civil War. It's not "shredding the constitution." But that's for a different discussion.

Fixed.

@doctorrobert: Buuuut that's only because of the ridiculous appeals process, which most pro-capital-punishment people think should be shortened as well. It's just not implemented correctly.

@Eulatos: This is just obviously different.

@N7: I think they don't want their proprietary software extracted from the ROM, and run on other Android phones. If they believe they have an edge because of Sense and the like, being able to run that on a non HTC phone hurts their advantage. I think it's bad PR, but they are in an awkward position about their IP

@iamthejae: If Obama (and JD) can tweet about BP, then Twitter is not just for entertainment. It's now a newswire. Tough nuggies, convict. Next life, don't be a dick.

@FuzzysFriedChicken: As would I, given the options. Esp. if i got to have a Macanudo Mini instead of a cigarette.

This is as good as any other tweet. It's happening, and the governor is tweeting about it. His execution is not his personal life; it's public information. There was nothing tactless or disrespectful; just truth, and a send-off well-wishing.

"and then spend my days reading the 120,000 volumes of my iPad."

@Serigei: It's good that you pulled back and thought better of it. There are a few I wish I had, but missed the edit time window. Kudos.

@hameed67: Oh, they're immensely fun. I only get defensive when people start talking about killing laptops and "changing computing as we know it", etc. You can't not love playing with an iPad.

@Dave Butts: It's not to create an iPad. It's to create an un-iPad. It's a techie thing. It's OK if you don't get it/want it, but don't judge.

"You think that's shiny? Wait til you see my left one!"

Dear HTC, You're the decent-looking-but-easy girl of the phone world. Don't become a prude. It'll work against you.

@Mihos: Well, I am in the same boat, but don't worry. It'll take at least a year for a company like HP to get off its a$$, put something good out, then have all of the first users discover the glitches, then fix them. By then, we'll be eligible for an upgrade, or our ETFs will be diminished significantly.

Maybe I'm just tired of all the rectangles I'm surrounded by, work in, live in, etc., but I'd take one of these. (especially once they screw the animal head on...)

@Eulatos: That's one way of looking at it. No offense, but that always sounds to me like the refuge of people who are ignorant of what's going on under the hood. Not wanting to know, and accepting what they choose for you, is the way of the sheep IMO. You should not brag about how simple the experts had to make it
