It looks like that may be a possibility. Stone hasn’t even gone to trial yet, and Gates’ sentencing has been delayed. Also, I believe the grand jury is still in session. If all of those things are going on, how can the investigation be over?

I agree, I think the more just scenario for him is to lose reelection and then be prosecuted as soon as he’s out of office. It also makes it more difficult for the “deep state was just out to get him” argument to be made. 

I mean, the Republicans tried it in 2011, holding endless congressional hearings, but those weren’t even about anything. Imagine what the House could with investigations into actual wrongdoing.
