Niles was a designer on Reach and did the awesome last stand level at the end, if I remember right!

The recent explosion of space games is awesome! But the genre was basically dead from 2000-2015, and a lot of that comes down to the perception that space sims required an expensive joystick and (back in 2000) an expensive 3D card.
The words that killed the space sim genre. :(
No, the flight dynamics are quite different. E:D’s ships are big and hefty and combat is extremely DPS-based, with long time to kill. Starfighter plays more like TIE Fighter or FreeSpace, with ships moving very quickly and low time to kill in fighter vs. fighter combat.
Tipul’s working on HOTAS, sorta.
Jason you should do this so I can feel good about myself, I worked my ass off on that shit.
Glad you enjoyed it. I thought the Skolas stuff turned out well, and brought him some depth and pain. I believe you can look out for more on the Thorn/TLW story in The Taken King.
No, they really are poorly designed. People who move from Risk/Monopoly to modern board games consistently report that they realize, in retrospect, they weren't really having fun. And design is not, in any case, a completely subjective quality.
Unfortunately Doctor.Memory is completely correct.
Nothing in quantum mechanics seems remotely necessary for the operation of consciousness. Penrose wants to stick the two together in a weird scientific analog of the 'god of the gaps' argument - quantum phenomena represent one of the last boltholes where anybody can hide consciousness from causal closure.
Definitely Player of Games. Consider Phlebas is an odd duck among the Culture books, and a bit uneven.
I don't get it, my game autosaves constantly.
Sleep darts are expensive. I'm doing a full stealth no spots no kills run, and I think if you want to enjoy pacifist, you've got to go all the way - no alarms, total ghost.
You actually can't do this because smaller Viper-sized ships (at least in a near-future setting) are handicapped by their inability to hold much fuel. They don't have the delta-V to alter their orbits in interesting ways.
Here at the board we are concerned with insufficient specification of semantically imprecise terms such as 'matters'. Please provide molecular formulas and mass spectrometry!
If you assume that density and volume are the same, you've just stated that the mass is the same. Just pointing that out. ;)
I know what you're trying to say, but think about your wording here -
I wish people would read the article before replying. There are valid objections to what he's saying, but this isn't one of them, since he addresses it head on.
Man, this has to be a new low. I can't understand how you would write this comment while staring at a paragraph of text that literally explains it for you.
It was the author they called brilliant, not the statement. Your eyes need more resilient roll triggers.
