It is so frightening to see or confront the power dynamics of child sexual abuse that the brain goes into survival mode and just cannot see it - real denial. I think that is oart if what the onlookers and enablers are going through.

I would add his creation of a child abuse center at the Vatican and then the training of experts who are then sent out to train clergy around the world.

The youth at our church are starting an environmental push with plenty of support from the congregation. We are Methodist, so it is much easier to be progressive. Especially since we don’t have to grapple with pro-life stuff.

I’m seeing it as a bit more progress than you because it’s stating clearly the church’s sins of abetting, denial and abuse of power and admitting the church needs courage to face what they need to do. This pope KNOWS and understands child rape and molestation. I would like him to have his church start to protect…
