Not true. The underlying paradigm shift in oil due to tech developments has made it like coal in terms of supply and cost. High prices due to stupid taxes are not relevant to the discussion b

We shall see. And what will be an S resale value say eight years after purchase.

Sure. That it is dropping down to 30% in the us from already next to nothing numbers should concern you.

Low fuel prices now and for far into the future will driven by the new extraction and location technology and the crushing impact they are having on cost and ease of locating new reserves.

Nobody moves simply to be closer to an ev charger.

Obviously most people don't consider it a feature worth paying extra for v

It will be interesting to see how many current ev owners buy a second one. Especially in the coming years when low gas prices are seen to be the norm and the subsidies disappear and resale values remain laughably low.

assuming a 5% reduction in cost every year for batteries - it will take 14 years for the price to drop by half. That likely won’t drive double digit growth especially if gas remains cheap (which it will) and if CAFE standards are relaxed even further which is very likely under a GOP government. And at 10% growth it

gas isn’t going north of $4 for decades.

they are going to move just to be able to charge their car?

but then you can’t charge from home if too many in your neighbourhood are doing the same thing. That IS THE big roadblock to widespread EV adoption long-term.

That means nothing in relation to the point being made above. EVs are not cheap relative to similarly equipped vehicles and those ICE vehicles do not have the range/long-trip handicap.

Low cost Gas is going to be around for decades to come. (and contrary to the post above, many did predict it) EVs are not going to be competive for a similar time period as a result. And the weakness of the residential grid will also contribute to continuing microscopic market share.

like an apple Iphone or worse - an Iwatch

and is that $40K with or without the government subsidy? And how about 5-6 yrs from now when the battery is kaput and the technology has long since changed/been improved?

Its not about warranty. It’s about what a manufacturer recommends and how insurance companies deal with your conduct in light of those recommendations. If MB in the US market does not say the s class can tow then are you violating your insurance coverage if you tow with it?

Not part of that group at all. Just pointing out the facts. Unless you have different ones...

well done. I would add that the depreciation on EVs is at least as bad as an ICE vehicle and potentially far worse.

Low fuel prices for years to come make EVS a dead end. Autonomous technology is where the money is. BMW seems to be figuring this out.

Hrc is an intolerant bigot. Like many of her supporters on this site she want freedom of expression on ky frontside who agree with her.
