Agree. Hanging onto my old E46 wagon in the vague hope something like this becomes practical cost-wise.

As someone who drives a coupe anda wagon with two young kids, I politely disagree. In some ways the coupe is easier, as you’re losing the kids from the front rather than the side.
Americans make this too difficult. Elsewhere, truck (or lorry I guess if you’re in Blighty?) is pretty much any commercial vehicle with a separate or open cargo capacity. From semi’s down to box trucks, all good.
You’re a monster.
“...we know the Mint is an electric hatchback and city car...”
I imagine it would look a lot like this:
Free internet points to the first person who finds one with a modern Subie boxer in it. Wouldn’t even need to be a WRX engine (I s going to write rex, but that would be confusing) - with what this weighs, even a base Impreza motor would make it a rocket ship.
I had this travelling to a work site once. Same deal, it was chartered for the return flight to pick up end-of-shift workers, I was just flying in off-shift for something.
Must politely disagree. Touring > Coupe > Sedan for pretty much all 3 series models. I will entertain some debate on Touring vs Coupe, but both are clearly better looking and age better than the Sedan.
I’m normally okay with sensible engineering compromises, like using an existing chassis to minimise interior fitout or rear end to avoid light issues, but this vehicle is in no way about practicality. If you’re going to throw fun money at this kind of project, surely a better hidden donor cab would be worthwhile,…
I don’t have the numbers with me, but the Barra was pretty comparable to other modern engines for emissions. It helps when your essentially refining the same engine platform for a few decades. Equivalent or better mileage than the V6 in the Commodore which was a GM global platform.
I think he’s probably referring to the high tariffs we had through to the late 80's/early 90's. You could argue these allowed the local industry to stagnate and not push for efficiencies etc, much like the US big three in the 80's/90's, but I think high labour costs and a sudden shift away from the niche product made…
“...their ability to show you when the driver is struggling, or intentionally pitching the car wildly about for showmanship.”
This is the correct mild-take.
Whelp, that’s fast.
I’m still trying to figure out where all these F40 engines are supposedly coming from. At least the origins for this specific one seems clear enough, but the Dino Monza guys were talking limited production runs. I’m sure there’s a huge dose of willful optimism involved in that sort of thing, but seriously, how many…
...a lack of grip?
If you’re going to re-make every panel in CF and call it a new brand/model, it seems like you should make a bolder step from the original design. Remove the awful bar across the grille (please) and it looks like a Mustang with some vents tacked on.
Given that it is so prominent and right at the start of the manual, in a sentence explicitly telling you how important it is to read that very thing carefully, I have to assume someone thought it would be hilarious to add a typo and see how long they could get away with it. Assume the manual is VW US only? Maybe…
