As a responsible motorcyclist who has been called a hooligan (and worse) and SPIT ON by town officials as a result of “guilt by class” (motorcycle rider) association with the garbage human beings who do this sort of shit with no respect for the law or, perhaps even more importantly, OTHER PEOPLE, I approve of this…

I have a dissenting view:

Because the same hooligans who were terrorizing the neighborhood on those bikes and ATVs will come to the auction and buy them cheap. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Why make them wait? Set up a garbage truck as a Mobile Shredding Unit which comes to any stop where the cops have confiscated one and they can watch their bike get shredded right before they walk to the bus stop to go home.

Because no one else has done it yet...

These aren’t priceless works of art...they’re the shitty ragged out stunt bike/atvs. People have difficulty selling that crap on Craigslist as is. Crushing them is one and done, selling them is a storage/paperwork/man hour upper with a sales downer that is probably close to breaking even.

I was reading the facebook comments like:

all i see are a bunch of 4wheelers and bikes that have been bounced off the rev limiter at every light, never maintained, and dumped when the cops came.

They will likely end up back on the street as unregistered vehicles. I think it sends a better message to take them out of commission.

To everyone saying they should have resold the confiscated bikes: Would you really not have a problem with that? You mean you would be OK with a system where cops can just take easy-to-resell items from people and resell them for profit? You’d have zero criticism of that? Well, my guess is you’re either lying or in…

So they sell them in NYC to people who live in NYC who then ride the illegally again and they confiscate them again.

Most high schools have long since ditched their auto shop classes in lieu of Computer classes.

The only thing that pisses me off about this is that the stunter morons who were causing chaos on the streets weren’t also crushed under the tracks of that dozer.
