We can’t do much as individuals to prevent genocides in countries where we most likely don’t live. We can do a lot to not be so wasteful... so I think I’ll be over here trying to live my own life more responsibly while you wring your hands about things far beyond your control.

I don’t think landfill space is the only argument being made here. The amount of extra energy, processing, materials and shipping to manufacture and distribute these goddamned things is another compelling reason. Also I’ve never liked the taste, and I think Adam agrees.

I have never understood why people use those things. Why not just run over to your local shit-encrusted bodega and buy a cup of their over brewed piss water for a dollar? Because the taste is comparable. I frequently have to go into affluent yuppie chick’s apartments for work and they all have a big “tree” of these…

Not to mention, recycling itself isn’t the greatest answer anyway. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - in that order. Recycling itself is wasteful, it requires energy and has it’s own carbon footprint.
