I’m kinda late to this so I don’t know if anyone will see it, but I wanted to share. I spent ALL DAY building raised garden beds in my mostly empty backyard and they are FAB.

I need to vent somewhere to people who are not my friends (who have heard it all already):

I got a haircut the other day, amd it’s so bad, I keep sobbing. I asked for beachy layers, and shorter, but it had to be long enough for a ponytail.

It is a bitter sweet Saturday. One of my three (count ‘em, three) friends in our new city is moving away next week. It is a really good opportunity for her, both personally and professionally, so I am happy for her. BUT, I am really going to miss her, and I am sad for myself. Her friendship has made the year so much

I did put a leash (one of those backpack things with the leash attached) on my kid once because I had a newborn strapped to me (so could not chase after her) and we had to walk across a really busy street every day. Some asshole made a nasty comment about it and had I not been, you know, busy trying to get my newborn

Ice T is totally right. I don’t care how much money you have, the markups places charge for it are goddamn ridiculous. 10x the retail prices for a bottle of Grey Goose (nevermind the wholesale) AND you want me to mix my own? Sure you get a dedicated server but you're doing most of it yourself! Pffffttttt.

This is just...so dumb.

GoT had no more “boobs and blood” than a lot of premium HBO TV, from Deadwood to Rome.

GOT has always got by on the stellar acting from its core cast and a story that keeps people tuning in next week to see what happens to people they’re invested in.

The only people who care about the boobs are

That is quite the upgrade in rides. Another commenter (Andrew Daisuke) traded in his TDI for a Cayman. The price differential between the VW’s and those cars both is quite the leap (and in the case of the Cayman - shift in use/performance).

...apart from the whole filling up landfills with non-biodegradable plastic that will be there for a thousand years thing... not to mention how much plastic there is in our oceans to which those likely contribute.

I can’t speak for starkruzr, but it probably has to do with the fact that San Francisco is not very crowded at all. San Francisco has about 18,000 people/sq mi, while Brooklyn has about 37,000, and Paris has 55,000. If Paris can fit that many people and still be considered one of the most beautiful and romantic cities

Some people just dont care. “refillable” k-cups make you go through all the same effort as just using a single serve brewer of your choice, whether it be french press, aeropress or whatever and yet because of the cool factor people will eat it up. Hell, I tried to convince my mom not to buy her nespresso machine with

We can’t do much as individuals to prevent genocides in countries where we most likely don’t live. We can do a lot to not be so wasteful... so I think I’ll be over here trying to live my own life more responsibly while you wring your hands about things far beyond your control.

I live in the bay area. I can say that those who are begging for housing (like myself) are NOT astroturfing. My wife and I both make near 6 figures, but we cannot buy even a basic cheap house. I’m serious, the market here is a nightmare. More housing is not a cry from the rich trying to get richer, it’s from the poor

PEI sounds like a goddamn utopia to me. Warmer water than Maine, and provincial composting!

NIMBY is always the best policy for some group of people. In this case you were part of that group.

They are a developer’s wet dream. From they NYTimes article,

They aren’t overcrowded, the infrastructure is underbuilt. We NEED to build higher density. We can’t just willy nilly build houses and nothing else, we need to build the infrastructure and communities to support the increased density but pretty much every single European city is vastly more densely populated than

I don’t think landfill space is the only argument being made here. The amount of extra energy, processing, materials and shipping to manufacture and distribute these goddamned things is another compelling reason. Also I’ve never liked the taste, and I think Adam agrees.

I have never understood why people use those things. Why not just run over to your local shit-encrusted bodega and buy a cup of their over brewed piss water for a dollar? Because the taste is comparable. I frequently have to go into affluent yuppie chick’s apartments for work and they all have a big “tree” of these

Not to mention, recycling itself isn’t the greatest answer anyway. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - in that order. Recycling itself is wasteful, it requires energy and has it’s own carbon footprint.
