He didn’t want to let it go. No Sling either, he could’ve used a 1 point bungee or tied it to himself with cord, still used the camera and not worried about dropping it. He also could have clipped it to himself with a snap link when he was getting in to trouble, but doesn’t seem he thought that far ahead.

It can be if not expected, I used to use it effectively against less skilled opponents when sparring, takes them by surprise. Against someone skilled or armed with a club it looks ridiculous. That guy would have wound up as he was coming and treated him as a fastball.
