Thank you :) Here's some classic Mandy, in one of his "surprise" appearances on classic era-Letterman with Tony Randall.

That doesn't surprise me; remember that Hoffman is the one to whom Laurence Olivier advised to just "try acting, dear boy" after learning of the ridiculous method measures Hoffman was taking during the filming of Marathon Man.

Which may account for him having unusually good rappart with Barbra Streisand when she directed him in Yentl, cut from the same cloth. But even though I think his dedication to his craft is admirable, it's hard not to be reminded of another such focused actor.

He was originally cast opposite Meryl Streep in Heartburn but was such a pain in the ass even back then (mid-eighties) that Mike Nichols just replaced him (with Jack Nicholson, no less).

It's incredible, the attention to detail that was paid top to bottom. The scene in Paris, the cobblestone street is made of croissants; in Egypt, the palm trees are made of ripped dollar bills and inside the basket that woman carries on her head are goldfish crackers; etc. etc. They must have had a lot of fun coming

The DVD extras for Team America are among the best I've seen; the amount of creative detail that went into the production design was extraordinary.

Had to save the best for last. It's inebitable!

Yup, with Mandy Patinkin (as Che) and Bob Gunton as Juan :)
