Say what you will about Gizmodo, I do like that they’ve been reaching out to unaffiliated researchers for comment for their science articles. Shows a diligence that many, many pop-sciences sites and magazines lack.

Thats not what I meant at all. I mentioned NYC public schools because we were never formally taught grammar beyond noun, verb, adverb etc. I know Iowa is known for their literacy and in particular their university writing program. I’ve always personally been oblivious to formal grammar rules - while things may look…

I was educated in NYC public schools, but I don’t really see a problem with the grammar, let alone it being excruciatingly bad.

Houston provided a place for refuge for many of those displaced by Katrina. On top of that, they and Dallas have taken in some of the largest numbers of refugees worldwide. Texas is a big place - plenty of bigots and people with big hearts as well.

What makes this funnier is that the author is basically describing herself; she has the same hair and appearance as the character. She’s basically on the cover, too - which was also plagiarized!

At best, its a symbol of sedition - hardly something for an American to be proud of.
