To be fair, it was Nick Diaz who got that suspension after getting about a million prior suspensions/fines. At some point, you either need to up the suspension or just drop them all together. If people just continue to get popped over and over, something needs to be done.

A professional striker brandishing a piece of steel (or nickel or whatever) to make his blow that much more wreckless and damaging has to be some kind of attempted murder shit if it’s anywhere near the head.
I don’t even believe in Jeebus, but sweet Jeebus!

Mmmm pistol whip.

Brandao’s always been a loose cannon, nothing new here. Whenever he wasn’t fighting, the guy spent the entire time on his season of The Ultimate Fighter alternating between starting shit with everyone like a total asshole and crying about starting a better life for him and his family. Kinda hard to get that better

Diaz’s suspension has since been reduced to 18 months, which I think was fair considering it was his 3rd such offense.

Now playing

Of course it’s gonna start beef when the D.J. drops this.

“Don’t promote child sex and don’t escort while being a PR agent for a corporation. Is that so hard?”

You know, when I’m in my cage and I see somebody on a sportbike hauling ass up to me about to pass me, despite the fact lanesplitting is illegal where I live, and it still annoys me they are driving like a douche, I don’t try to block them or start trouble like an asshole. Why is this so hard for people? What part of

“A truly enlightened mind recognizes that simplified escapism is a perfectly valid way to entertain yourself at times.”

I never got that mentality... if you’re only interested in the exciting visuals, why see a movie at all? You could just wait until someone uploads all the fight scenes and watch them on Youtube. If I’m actually going to go watch a film I’d like for the story to at least not be so bad that it distracts me from enjoying

Back in the Usenet days we’d call it a diddling cascade.

Linkara runs Atop The 4th Wall, a series of video reviews of comicbooks (snarky reviews of bad comics). Regardless of any arguments about the qulity or lack thereof of the reviews, his voice is... it’s horrible. More nasal than Eddie Deezen. Whinier than the Comic Book Guy. When he speaks, fairies die.

Maybe, if you pay anyone $20 million to subject themselves, they damn sure will.

Maybe she should have just put her in an armbar in seconds instead of trying to fight a true striker.

Yeah, most athletes follow that line of thinking. “Shit, I got hurt. I’d better not play anymore.”

That’s not where your hand goes on a lightsaber hilt.

NO prestige or money? Ronda Rousey isn’t a major crossover celebrity? Conor McGregor didn’t just make 10 million in his last fight? For a sport only 20 years old, they’re doing just fine, all things considered. As a martial artist or wrestler, other than movie star or MAYBE WWE, what other avenue do you have to apply

The problem is judo fighters didn’t grow up getting pummeled. Boxers don’t come up dealing with kicks or takedowns. Very few to no people came up competing in true mma. Needs time to develop the complete game of getting attacked from all angles with so many different styles.

You can only carry so many of your skills from individual martial arts into MMA. Once these fighters get into proper MMA training, they spend almost as much time unlearning bad habits as they do learning good ones. People are going to fight in their own styles no matter what but when even fundamental stuff like

Yeah it very much depends on location; there are some good amateur programs in certain regions, like northern California. But for the most part, most MMA fighters lack an extensive amateur background. It’s getting a lot better these days, and the sport is still pretty young so I expect future fighters to have more
