Yep, the last 30 min absolutely made the film for me.

High Life is kind of a mess. It’s weird and interesting enough that I don’t regret watching it, but I’m surprised at how much praise it has gotten.

I’ve definitely seen criticism of Scorcese over this topic, especially if you look at contemporaneous reviews. The films have stood the test of time though.

Aww, the same thing happened to me. I was happy to be an honorary Hufflepuff instead of the boring, type-A Ravenclaw that I surely would have been.

I watched it on prime last Halloween--it holds up.

OK what is the story behind this? I feel like it get referenced a lot and I’m not in the know.

It is eternal.

They always say write what you know.

Nah, you just understand that most people are normal people and don’t give a shit about ideologies.

Yeah, I noticed he tried to lump everyone else in there.

Dolla dolla bills yo

Now that I go back again, you did say that the movie doesn’t endorse his behavior, but I first read it as, “not [only] because it is behavior the movie endorses, but because Spacey himself has since been alleged to have preyed upon teenagers,” so I understand the confusion. English is weird.

I also still like it. Do I need to turn in my film nerd gun and badge?

Watch ‘Gay of Thrones’ instead. It’s ultimately more satisfying, and you can watch the whole thing go downhill without investing nearly as much time.

I dunno, fool me once that all that Season 2 bullshit was going somewhere, shame on you. Fool me twice...

David Kelley is just firmly in the pulp/schlock camp (which I don’t mean as an insult).

I’m so glad I never started the Handmaid’s Tale. The book left its mark on me in high school and I didn’t think I could take it, but I’m getting the impression that it just sucks after they ran out of source material a la GoT.

Real question time: is this season worth watching? I watched the first ep and mildly enjoyed it, but wasn’t super driven to keep going.

I’m ashamed to admit I don’t actually follow sports at all. I knew that Mark McGuire was a baseball player who hit a lot of home runs and used steroids, and I wasn’t familiar with Jose Canseco at all. I’m sure there were a ton of jokes I didn’t get, but in some ways it was also funnier—I was like ‘Wait wait, they were

I think this every time this dude’s name comes up.
