i totally agree with you on the humanizing. 100%. it's made the interrelationships realistic very quickly, where other shows might still be struggling after a lot more episodes.

The delight he takes in the opening sequence when the mugger demands his wallet is infectious; instead of being grim and vengeful, he strips the guy down to his underwear and deposits a cop on the scene.
i'm enjoying the show, but every time i hear an adult professional spy say Daddy, i momentarily feel unclean.
