This seems to be more often a white female teacher problem, or was specifically at the school’s I and friends attended. I did have one sort of looney “I don’t have to be here” white lady teacher, though she only lasted a yr.

I’m a white lady teacher in an urban school. I’ve been around awhile. I’ve heard *multiple* other white lady teachers (of the Teach For America variety) get frustrated at kids and say things like, “I don’t HAVE to be here,” “I’m here for YOU and and you don’t appreciate me!” etc.

Right? How does she make a case that she was fired for being white? Are all the non-white teachers stepping on the kids with impunity? 

I know it’s a side issue, but having students sit close together or lie down on the floor in order to better understand the experiences of slaves is deeply stupid. It trivializes the misery of slavery and belittles the students’ intelligence.
