Not potentially victim-blaming here, but if you park the Changli all the way in like that, some other car (or TRUCK!) will drive along, assume it’s an empty space and be all the way up the Changli’s rear end before they realize the parking spot is taken...

I’m still mad that my wife removed the Bernie bumper sticker from the car. I had to remove one from my motorcycle after some...issues when riding in eastern Oregon over the summer. That’s Trump-land, and they don’t take too well to us socialists.

Have a partner who is accepting of your wrenching time and ‘excess’ of vehicles. Cannot be overestimated.

Last year I bought a 2000 Triumph Sprint ST 955i for $1500. I’ve put 4500 miles on it since then, and it’s incredible. Of course, I also have much newer adventure bike (a Kawasaki Versys 1000 LT), but the Triumph, battered though it is, is still my favorite in many ways.

Actually, screw it, I'm just incredibly jealous you get to live in a Paul Revere Williams house! I just watched a great documentary about him as part of the Architecture and Design Film Festival. Is it as nice as it looks?

Hope to see you on Hwy 431 (Mount Rose Highway) soon! Ideally on the Zero SR/S, so I can see one in the flesh...

Did you already have the VW shirt, or did they throw that in with the car?

Brings back memories of my S-Line A3 - same engine and gearbox.

Not sure about cars, but in the motorcycle world, it’s very common - not just Harley riders decked out in full H-D gear, but all the BMW riders I know have at least one item of Beemer clothing - typically a jacket or pants. I have a Kawasaki hat and also Triumph and Ducati t-shirts.

Always worth doing IF it’s not a holiday weekend with lots of (slow) RVs on the road. Because otherwise you’ll find yourself getting really frustrated and doing something stupid, like trying to pass multiple vehicles on a blind corner

Excellent piece! 2000 miles is my longest multi-day trip, so 5000 is....wow.

You basically went past my place in Tahoe Vista, and I was there that weekend. If I’d only known...

At the risk of going off-topic, an I right in assuming Braun is the same company that makes my beard trimmer?

I already have my 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000LT for long distance touring (2000+ miles in August), my 2000 Triumph Sprint ST for very fast fun (and previously for touring), my 2002 Yamaha V-Star 650 for chrome cruising and my Genuine Buddy 150 scooter for scootin’ round town.

Or rather than give money to Apple, go buy a copy of “Jupiter’s Travels” by Ted Simon or (even better, IMO) “Lone Rider” by Elspeth Beard. Just not from Amazon...

Bradley, I’m up in Tahoe, and would LOVE to try out the Cardo (I’ve been a Sena guy for years). Maybe even go for a ride 😁

All my motorcycles have headlight modulators (where you can set the headlight to CONSTANTLY flash, if the ambient light is sufficient). That, combined with a white helmet has people getting out of my way like I’m Moses and they’re the Red Sea. Which is useful. My bikes don’t look anything like cool bikes though - a

But those are cop-specific lights. I assume we’re talking about just flashing the high beams to get them to move out of the way. Which is fine, although some folks can get pretty aggro about it

And that clearly says STRATO’S. Who is Strato, and why did he put his name on his car? Is he worried about someone else claiming it?
