If you truly loved this country, you would defend others’ right to protest.

This is a contender for worst comment of the year.
How do you know they are not doing anything? Because you saw them on TV for 30 seconds? OK.
Still waiting to meet someone who talks like this and has actually served in the military, police, fire protection, medical industry, general non-profit or the fucking humane society.
A hotdog better be on that list. Do they have Churros? I haven’t had one of those in ages.
By “fight” do you mean war? Is that really the only way you think we can change this country?
Oh shut the fuck up, Emily.
Oh, say can you see
So glad to see your sentiment is not shared by many people. Kaep and Rap see inequality and injustice, and are protesting, because well, the Bill of Rights says they are born with the right to do so (it doesn’t have to be earned as you suggest). You should support every American's right to peaceably protest. It's the…
You didn’t take Labor Day off, you worked hard on this troll post. So American. Good for you.
Patriotism is holding your country accountable when it does wrong, not screaming to silence others who dare question it. That’s just plain ol’ nationalism and the Russians and Chinese have it in spades as well (we just mock them for it while ignoring our own). Chanting ‘USA’ to drown out unfavorable opinions and…
Nope. This is dumb. Marginalized peoples like Kaepernick and Rapinoe earn the change that’s necessary in this country by virtue of being human beings. Get the fuck out of here with this corny bullshit.
Where did anyone ever mention protesting the military?
This is such a strange, uniquely American idea. It’s not The Military Anthem. It’s not The Troops Anthem. It’s the National Anthem. It’s for all of the people. It is not profession-specific.
Our country was built on protesting unfair government action. It’s what the soldiers who died in the Revolutionary war gave their lives for. What could be more patriotic than protesting the way that some of our citizens are mistreated by government representatives?
I happened to hang out with friend yesterday who used to be in the armed forces and is currently in federal law enforcement. He said he admired the balls of Kaepernick for doing what he did and that he (my friend) served in the military so that Kaepernick and everybody else can freely exercise their right to speak out…
It’s too bad that she won’t stand for the people who have died for her so she has the right to wave a rainbow flag. The most beautiful part of it all is that we also have the freedom to leave.
What a nationalistic mentality. Not everyone feels that the wars soldiers fight and have fought lead to our freedoms being protected. I know I don’t. As an openly gay women in a national sport she fought through a lot- to EARN it as you say -to do what she feels during a national anthem.
So what about the guy in the bathroom taking a 2 chapter shit. Is he disrespecting the flag. What about the girl serving beer and fries in the concourse. Is she disrespecting the flag? The camera man on the sidelines? The lady sitting breast feeding her baby?
Why? We have evidence of pervasive discrimination against some of this country’s citizens, people who in theory should have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else, but don’t according to a huge raft of solid statistical evidence.
