Not necessarily...

That depends on the circumstances...

What is the alternative? Nuclear war?

It can’t be anything but an attempt at greenwashing, perhaps to buy Obama some chips in the Paris negotiations by pointing to completely unenforceable “pledges” as a sign of the American efforts to combat climate change. Who knows?

No, and that goes for pretty much any religion...

He’s shallow, but not completely shallow like the Shah of Iran. That guy married some of the most beautiful women in the world. Look at his second wife, I defy anyone to pick out even the slightest flaw. You just stare in amazement...

Same. We had Facebook, but that was before everyone and their grandmother was on it...

And for every girl they supposedly “seduced”, how many went running back to their friends laughing at their ridiculous “alpha male” posturing?

“so much that they offered a salary bump for a dog-walker when I expressed concern about leaving Oscar at home all day”

Telling someone to try Pepto Bismol if they have the runs is different from pontificating about how they should work out or boring them with some fadish quick fix diet advice.

The organized “Church” has been around for roughly 1800 years, with the Roman branch being essentially independent for around 1300 years. It is a marvel of organization, but hierarchical and slow to change. You cannot realistically expect the Catholic Church to be at the forefront of every single new social change.

As much as I disagree with her, military worship is far more damaging to real progress than the ramblings of a paid talking head.

People either hate Infinite Jest or love it, and neither side can imagine what the other sees in it. I bought it and was able to read only 5 pages before simply stacking it in the ‘never read’ pile. I can’t really claim to have an opinion on the book, but I’ve never read prose that repulsed me as much.

Those who wrote the article are the dicks. They’re peddling BS just to get their names in the press, much like those half quack nutritionists who shill dubious diets just to make a quick buck.

Fifty years ago, nobody would ever have thought of pulling a childish marketing stunt like this in any Western country. This ridiculous phenomenon of public stupidity being rewarded by praise is pretty recent and frankly disturbing. Basic dignity is becoming a very rare commodity and the Chinese have every right to

I have a hard time believing this is some sort of concerted effort at “censorship” and “body shaming”, as if Instagram really cares one way or another. They have millions of users, uploading photos every single day, they simply cannot police the place on an individual basis.

Always remember inflation! Interest rates are still low, inflation is still very low, but wait long enough and hopefully inflation will increase a bit to 2-3%. Inflation eats away at the relative weight of debt. Always take out a fixed rate mortgage, if rates go down you can always refinance. Sure, rates are very low

Why are you giving this disingenuous quack and shameless profiteer a platform?

On the asshole chef:

Apparently, the Romans also practised a particularly gruesome form of drowning. They would put the condemned man in a sack, along with a snake, a chicken and a cat, or some equally horrible variant, and then chuck him in some body of water.
