This ep had me at “NO SLOT-SHAMING!”

I didn’t get a Community notification for this

Monster, not mobster... :)

Yes, I think we pretty much saw all we need to see of the Thrombeys in Knives Out. I think it’s a good thing that we’ll not be seeing them again.

I love Criterion Collection so much. Its turned me on to a lot of great international cinema and films I may have missed.

That Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes in 2020 is ironclad proof that the supposed excesses of “cancel culture” are not actually a thing, but only exist in the fever dreams of people who desperately want to shout the n-word and use “gay” as an insult.

Once Upon a Time made me spontaneously burst into tears for about 10 second at the very end (when Dalton is talking to the person I won’t name through the gate). Movies can get me to cry from time to time, that’s not unusual, but it truly came out of nowhere with no buildup, and then passed. The surreal, tragic

Really enjoyed this over the weekend; held my emotions in pretty good until I heard the opening chords of “Sweet Virginia” at the film’s close (my very favorite Stones’ tune, and my own sweet mother was a Virginia...) so, anyway, here’s hoping that Marta just scrapes that shit right off her shoes (plus, the coffee mug

I was sitting there in the theater saying very quietly “I have.”

I may comment later but I wanted to note that “EVERYONE isn’t A SUSPECT” because Jamie Lee Curtis’s character is not actually a suspect in the film.  They never put in anything where the father threatened to call in his loan and she couldn’t pay it or anything like that.  She’s just a sourpuss with a great way with a

I’d be more willing to buy the “idealogical reasons” angle had this movie not been in development since 2014, with Clint attached since August 2015.

This movie surprises you without trying to outsmart you. I really felt like Daniel Craig’s character was Rian Johnson telling you to enjoy the ride and that it’s not going to be a “super-genius detective” story:

Is it? PT and The Master had fine individual performances but both left me cold. BTW I watched IV with subtitles turned on, the long Wilson/Phoenix mumbly scene at the kitchen table is only slightly more coherent lol.

I liked DUNKIRK

OH YES WHAT A DAY WHAT A LOVELY DAY
WE SHALL ENTER VALHALLA SHINY AND CHROME

I probably have seen less than ten of these movies, but I have to state my two takes:

We all have favorites that we insist ought to be on this list, but I take it more as a reminder that literally hundreds of good movies have come out in the past 10 years, and it’s pretty much impossible for anyone but a film critic to have seen all of them. May this list serve as a reminder that all of our pop culture

LMAO Birdman and Dunkirk, two of the decades best films didn’t even make the list but Mad Max gets the top spot? What kind of trolling is this?!

While I’m glad that Shape of Water and Hurt Locker didn’t make it onto the list, why is Boyhood there? I haven’t seen it personally, but I heard from a few sources that it was extremely tedious to sit through, and didn’t really have a plot other than plain old life... I get the effort that went into making it, but

Wow. Another top 100 list of the decade that only includes one Marvel entry? Did you guys coordinate with the comic book list team?
