Yes perhaps next time I’ll read only exactly what you said, and not analyze the logic behind it.

You were quite clearly making an objection to freedom based on that cost.
Yeah, dude, thanks for the long ass reply.
Maybe #1 and #2. Drops off fast after that.
This requires political action and force of government to achieve.
Who said anything about political leaders and giving them access to automated systems?
Ever consider a shitty driver might plow into you or someone you care about?
Um, no. We should consider replacing workers of dangerous jobs with machines. As we have done in the past. Your looking at the solution as a dichotomy.
Nothing. As long as your exercising of your freedom does infringe on my right to live.
My car cuts power to the fuel pump in a crash.
False equivalency and dichotomy, with some anecdotal evidence and tack on a little ad hominem. Great response. Either autopilots will save lives or it won’t. The decision has nothing to do with stairs, which are actually regulated in design to prevent as many accidents as possible.
Well, actually some are and if you eat beef and butter you just harm yourself. So, pretty much a false equivalency. Try again and actually speak to the point of discussion.
Your point?? Are you trying to point out that auto pilot software will be written by someone that is not you??
I just rechecked my post and I never said any of those things. But nice try. Next time, respond honestly.
Not only that but the auto did not stop the car after the collision but allowed the car to continue with enough velocity to shear a telephone pole.
But even this will not work. If you are not driving then you will not be paying close attention and will not be ready both mentally and physically to take over and respond in time to avoid an imminent collision.
Sure. As long as you are OK with the fact that human error is the #1 cause of fatalities on the road and you’re OK with over 30,000 people dying each year so you can enjoy your drive. Which is what you are saying, it is worth their dying if I get to keep having fun. I bet you own a lot of guns too.
BUt what is the trend? With rising population levels and climate change there are supported models that show the suburbs being plowed under for farm land. That and cheap energy is what allowed the suburbs and exurbs. When we lose that, we are going to want that infrastructure.
That said, have you ever wondered why the government lets people even drive cars despite huge gaps in human’s sensors?
A few things - your numbers seem a bit skewed in favor of electric. Not saying it changes the conclusion, just makes the story less dramatic.
