What does popularity have to do with efficiency? Are you suggesting it is only okay to be wasteful if lots of people like something?
I always laugh when people bitch about almonds as if they’re anywhere near as energy or water intensive as animal farming, especially beef farming where you’re going to need about 2,460 gallons of water for that one pound of beef.
And one cow, depending on variety can be anywhere between 600 (on the much smaller end)…
Sure, at ~377 gallons of water per pound (with their hulls and such being used as livestock feed and in energy production), they’re nowhere near as water intensive as beef which requires ~2,460 gallons of water per pound.
