I'm usually after Science Bros (those would be the friend!fics, not the romantic ones), but those are also plagued with extraneous ships. Basically, Tony gets shipped with everybody, so if the person you want him to hang out with isn't the person he's being romantically shipped with, you're going to suffer through a

I had legitimately not seen that one before. I'm assuming Thor/Tony?

If you find shipping hilarious, I cannot recommend the Avengers fandom enough. It is 90% totally insane ship fics. I love it. Especially the ship names. A sampling:

Very similar here. Although, I tend to think of it more like finding an activity that you like enough that encourages you to go do other stuff to get better at that first activity. So for me, I like judo, and I want to get better so I can compete, so I go do strength training and cardio, etc.

Wooo! High five for Ke$ha guilt!

Oh also, I <3 you for having a Ted Leo song. Ted Leo is awesome always.

Re: workout clothes. I feel the same way about my weird sleeves-cut-off tee shirts I wear when I go to lift. Also my neon green shoes.

Die Young- Ke$ha (what?!)

Make sure you stretch your quads and calves. Walking on that kind of incline is a great workout, but is going to build up your calves like nobody's business- I grew up on a big hill, so that's pretty much how I got home every day. So now I have crazy leg strength, but they tighten up and cause all kinds of problems. I

This. Also, I've found that it helps to have a set time that is gym time, rather than trying to go when you are able. I'm a major procrastinator, so I know if I don't go in the morning, I won't go at all because I'll see everything else as the priority and never make it to the gym.

Complimenting on a non-physical thing: YES. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm waaaay more likely to talk to someone if they start off with something like this (and I use this to talk to random people as well- I like to know where people get their neon colored chucks or weird t-shirts)

I eat too many carbs always, but week of, suddenly I'm like I WILL EAT ALL THE BREAD!!

Aww, that had to be so freaking traumatic. That class was horrible. Even before I stopped being Catholic I was like "Uhh... something seems off here."

Aw man, I never get to use this gif.

Yup. When people ask me about self defense stuff, I usually say that picking up something you'll do regularly is best, taking the opportunity to learn even a few moves is great.

Also, what do you think of this "that's too much training time for most people" argument that I (and I think you in a few places) keep getting? I'm inclined to say that's not really the case. Yeah, training everyday is better, but if you're just training regularly you should be able to build up at least some muscle

I usually get "So.... is that like karate?"

First off, the reason I posted the video is that OP seemed to be implying that a gun is universally more powerful than "half-assed judo" techniques and other hand-to-hand methods, and I wanted to illustrate that that is clearly bullshit.

Cool. I just passed to yon kyu recently and am starting to compete. I'm in women's heavyweight, so it's a major pain to try and find someone to compete against. I know in my area, they do kata workshops all the time.

It's a kata, they always do it slowly, but the point of it is to show how those moves can be used against an armed attacker. It's a crappy quality video, but when you see it up close, it's meant to demonstrate how to disarm the attacker.
