The other Texas Senate seat will be open. Cornyn’s term ends in 2020. Supposedly, he is not planning to seek reelection, which means no incumbent challenger. 

I’ve been thinking about the Senate race in Wisconsin in 2016 to give myself a glimmer of hope about Texas. Russ Feingold was consistently polling mid to high single digits higher than Ron Johnson throughout the campaign. Then come election day Ron Johnson wins handily.

If Beto loses tomorrow, he should consider running for something in 2020. Not President, but some other office. 

He could spin that, though - he could say “well, Amy and the kids really encouraged me to do it and we’ll all do whatever it takes to keep the family running.” So he has an out there if he decides to change his mind.

I’m hoping like crazy that Beto wins but I don’t know that even he will be enough against Cruz’s special brand of sliminess. It’s pretty rare to fail up in politics. If you lose a political race people tend to want to see you win at around that same level before you move up. If he lost, Beto would almost certainly have to win something bigger or take on a bigger job than the house seat he already has to have a shot at the Presidency.…

Seriously. I know Texas is still Texas, but losing a Senate race to one of the most loathed men in politics isn’t really a good way to show us that we should take a chance on you in 2020.

Am originally from Texas but now reside in Philly. Most of my siblings are rich GOPers. Think Tx summers have melted their brains ie They seem sorta stupid to me but I’m the “token liberal” in the family.

That’s what I’ve been saying. I think this election will change the country, not matter what happens.
