That’s quite often the problem. Too many people dismiss things as “just politics”, mostly i suppose for things they don’t think affect them personally.

Exactly.
It’s an infuriatingly asinine argument that just won’t die, no matter how many examples you give of violent men who were (at one time) thought of as “nice guys.”
Too true. Even I could find 65 men who thought I was nice. And I have resting bitch face and running bitch mouth.
I keep seeing people point to Thomas and say “well we already have one rapist/abuser, what’s stopping them?”
Even ignoring the fact that no all-male-high-school-attending boy on earth knows 65 women his own age.
One of those two republican woman senators is my senator, and it is with heavy heart that I must tell you she is all too often a weak-principled, equivocating weasel and will surely fold on this issue.
Bill Cosby didn’t rape all of the women; therefore, he didn’t rape any woman.
Have their actual existences been confirmed?
Anyone else find it...interesting...that Republicans pulled a letter with 65 women vouching for Kavanaugh out of the ether, apropos of nothing.
The Republicans didn’t just throw out those famous “Binders full of women” after all.
There’s a book called “Our Boys” by Bernard Lefkowitz (high school boys sexually assualt a mentally handicapped girl in 1980s Jersey) that coined the term “little mothers”: women who become a part of the friend group of predatory young men. They laugh at the misogynistic jokes, giggle when their butts are smacked,…
This stupid narrative also feeds into the false assumptions that all rapists and pedophiles are strangers who lurk in dark alleys wearing nothing but trenchcoats. The person who commits sexual misconduct is almost always someone you know! They intentionally ingratiate themselves into a community or social network and…
Yeah I’m super confused by that. Where did all these women come from? Have their identities been fact-checked?
He went to an all boys school which means the women who signed the letter wouldn’t have had close daily contact with him.
I’m so fucking sick of this “If he didn’t try to rape ALL women, he didn’t try to rape ANY women” argument. Or “If he didn’t try to rape ME he didn’t try to rape ANYONE.” Fuck this.
Kavanaugh will destroy Roe. Women will suffer and die because of that.
And we have to ask, is this going to be precedent? Can I rob a bank, and then point to 65 banks I didn’t rob?
Given the current state of the GOP I don’t think this will impact his confirmation at all, sadly. I do have some questions about the timing of this--if Feinstein did have this letter back in July, why is it only released now? But also, how did team Kavanaugh just conveniently have 60 women who knew him in HS lined up…
