“We may add nothing of import, but we do so *loudly*”

Because as journalistic policy, opposing the reporting of the true identity of a globally famous pseudonymous person is insane.

But just think of the kinky dom/sub game you could play with such a man. He is scrupulous hard working meat purveyor, and you are the taciturn, pitiless, big government operative.

See, and if you are dumb enough to be a libertarian (or God forbid a Trump supporter,) you are de facto unfuckable to me. I don’t care if you are the world’s most skilled Lothario and you are rendered mute the entire time. As soon as I know in my heart that you’re one of those people who thinks that government meat

Chop him up into pieces, bundle his pieces with the mulchy remains of other similarly mutilated libertarians, and then publicly trade the bundles.

For those of you looking for it, here’s the passage in question:

Yes. There are human women on one of the trains into the park debating whether they want to fuck the cute ranch hands or the bad boy cattle rustlers.

I actually thought it was really significant that the robots were naked when being diagnosed/repaired. It could just be a chance for HBO to show us naked actors, but I think that in the story it actually tells us something about the attitudes of the people running the park. These robots are so human-looking, that

Why would it be sick?

I went into the pilot very concerned about that specific issue based on the way HBO has handled other shows (The Sopranos and the first several seasons of GoT), and came away feeling far less concerned. If anything, Westworld reminds me most of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, in terms of its treatment of violence and

For sure, it’s one thing to say it, even if it is their intent, it’s another to do it in a way that makes that clear to the audience rather than just appearing to be sexual violence as a plot device, or worse played for titillation.

Quite a few. And not just wifes and girlfriends. One of the train scenes have a group of women who are there by themselves.

I do think that gets a lot thornier if we ever get to the point where the fantasy is literally indistinguishable from reality (as far as our senses are concerned).

its consent intrinsically tied to humanity? I mean isn’t the entire point that if they can feel they should have a choice in what they do?

I don’t think using artificial beings as part of a point about what it means to be human is useless. I haven’t watched either so who knows, but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt to any show that is attempting to deal with issues of consent.

“Opponents argue that drawn child porn will only whet the pedophile’s appetite, and is the start of a slippery slope to real-life abuse. There’s not enough research to know who’s right.”

To me it seems like a slippery slope towards thoughtcrime. The notion that it could be illegal for someone to draw a picture and then

I think that’s the question at play here: They are artificial constructs built for a purpose, and therefore incapable of consent. But at what level does that requirement for consent begin? How advanced does an artificial representation of a person need to be before it’s willingness to participate matters.

While the show clearly is trying to explore the nature of humanity, sentience, and reality, one has to acknowledge that the show has some lasciviousness to it’s aspects.

It’s still a traditionally male fantasy(western), and the show is still shot with male gaze(90% of the close camera shots on nudity are women).

I’d

I don’t know but I don’t think humans wear a lot of clothes during surgery either. Maybe it’s a way to make them look more vulnerable. Maybe it’s a way to strip their identity . After all, their clothes are costume for the “character” they play in the play world.

I’m going to watch the pilot. I hope this turns that male fantasy on its head, because I’m not trying to watch this shit happen over and over again without an end game, a la The Walking Dead.
