Sansa knew Ramsey would kill Rickon even as she was using Rickon as a means to persuade Jon to go to battle for Winterfell to begin with. Sansa used Jon, from start to finish. That was all Sansa’s game—Jon was just a pawn. She definitely learned a lot from Littlefinger.

Plus from a purely entertainment element, it’s much more fun to be on the edge of your seat and then have someone rush in to save the day.

She didn’t get Littlefinger after that conversation. She sent a Raven to him weeks prior. She didn’t know for sure if he’d show, but she didn’t even let Jon know that it might be in play, or was even an option. You don’t think he would’ve paid attention to the prospect of 1000s more armed troops on horseback?

I am pretty pissed about Sansa. She should have told Jon, if not that the Knights of the Vale were coming then AT THE VERY LEAST that she sent a message and that little finger promised her his army. It was bullshit. They could have had a better strategy...

Don’t you think that if Jon had even the slightest clue that the Vale were potential allies, he would have explored that a bit? She never even told him of the initial offer of help.

I agree that Jon was a dummy, too. But he gets a little bit of a pass since he came back from the dead and all. GRRM has explicitly stated that people who are brought back “lose” parts of themselves in the process. I disagree about the KOTV, period. I think the strategy would have been really, really different had he known of the possibility of those additional forces. Plus, had he known about the KOTV, and waited for them, Littlefinger would have been part of the war council as well. So I don’t buy that keeping it a secret…
