Honestly, I think this is something that each con needs to decide. Each approach has its pros and cons, and there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

What can the ticket taker even do in this situation? The guy got cheated by someone else. That is who his grievance is with.

Actually if you clicked it 100 times he would get no stars :D

There are penalties for false DMCA takedowns (at least in the law, theoretically, it could happen).

The day companies get penalized for anything...is the day we have democracy back...

I think companies need to be penalized for reporting false flags. That is the only way this kind of things are less likely to happen.

First comedy and now this. When will Family Guy stop ruining things.

I just happened to have pears, candied walnuts, goat cheese and escarole in my fridge. Lifehack!

God, I feel for you. My Mom gave me no peace because I was all bones and didn't eat. I didn't eat because my anxiety was so severe I could not swallow food, which meant I could not socialize with teens who could swallow food. At the same time, she dieted regularly and smoked while pregnant because "no woman should

Aimee, you were and, I’m sure, are definitely not pear-shaped. Your teen body looks great and it’s disgusting how people focus on bodies.

I don’t know if you read the actual responses that Kotaku posted? They’re not bullying. Criticizing someone for being sexist is not bullying.

I read and commented on the SFCC meltdown post already, but on the specific topic of professional, paid or compensated cosplayers, let me add this: there is no reason why people should think too much into it.

It doesn’t matter about cosplayers. Dude was publicly representing a company and acted like a sexist elitist douche nozzle. Fuck that guy.

It seemed very much like a response to the situation, where SFCC chose not to hire cosplayers, and have come under fire not for that, but for being a big ol' jerk about it.

I think it’s really up to the budget and priorities of the convention.

Huh, that’s odd (the whole not buy comics/items argument) because from what I’ve seen of the cosplay scene is that you either bring someone along with you to hold items/carry water/ etc. or you make sure to get one of the multi-day passes and set aside time to buy art and comics over the course of the con.
Sure, they

The issue wasn't that SFCC didn't want to hire cosplayers! The issue is the whole conversation that followed, and the personal opinions of the Facebook guy about women in cosplay getting paid to be in cosplay.

The problem was never that they turned down the solicitation. And really, it wouldn't have even been a big deal to turn down the solicitation in a snarky way, although it was a bit mean and totally unnecessary to blast it out on Facebook (though without any identifying information attached). The real problem was the

The issue at hand with Sante Fe wasn’t them not wanting the cosplay guest, the problem was the unprofessional attitude that they presented throughout the entire ordeal from the initial post to every reply he posted afterwards.

Fun little party tune.
