5th gear:

EVIL ANTIFA OPERATIVES were VERBALLY ABUSING THEM and SURVEILING THEM by bicycle, everyone on the road was antifa

I trust Tom’s view on this, given his extensive experience in negotiating and buying cars.

“I can no longer support the world’s most milquetoast party that does barely anything because it’s too divisive. Instead I’ll be joining the literal domestic terrorism murder Handmaid’s Tale party”

Yeah, so if you insist on driving like an idiot, don’t bring it. There are options.

$60K for dog transport. $60K for dog transport in a depreciating asset. If you need more space, roof cargo or hitch box. Much less than a new(er) car. Find another solution. 60K for a 6 times a year trip. 10K per trip in a year. $2k per trip over five years.

Well, at this time today, any affordable new car would be nice.

Admitting it is the first step. Now go seek help, all of you.

the same logic that has killed 214 and wounded 859 across 203 mass shootings this calendar year.

you can be 100% personally responsible and still get aced off the face of the earth by a drunk driver or speeder.

I’ll go finish the article in a second, but the breathalyzer part has some egregious errors in it, as a person that used to run a service center for these devices.

Lot of people failing to realize that the breathalyzer interlock device isn’t about personal safety, it’s about protecting others. That’s why there’s a government interest here. Drunk drivers kill other people and survive the accident. That’s manifestly unfair and putting a drunk driver in jail does not give back a

Yeah it’ll reduce drunk driving incidents and needless death and harm

I understand the hate, but I would much rather have a 5 second wait versus the amount of DUI’s out there. I have had too many friends die from other drivers crossing the lane while drunk.

Where I live speed is the killer. Then follows drunk, then follows no seatbelts. Somewhere in all of that is running stoplights and illegal lane changes.

In before all of the slippery-slope arguments... I 100% agree. I know I would not like these solutions, but we definitely should have them and if new cars came with them I would deal. We all would. This is not an attack on your freedoms.

Pretty obvious to see what’s happening.

They should have updated the AMC eagle with the 4.0 and just kept selling them.

Your last sentence is true in multiple contexts: “Anyone who owns a car in New York, myself included, is completely mad.”

Neutral: Do you really need a car in New York?
