OK, the new outlet is in, and it works. I didn't realize that GCFI outlets tend to wear out over time— I'll be doing an inspection of the others in the house and replacing any that have scorch marks.
Take a squint at the Home Handyman magazine. About every 2 years, they have a big article on how to build some kind of outbuilding. Even if you're going to buy prefab, it's useful reading because they go into things like ground prep and footings.
I dunno anymore. Since I lost the taste for it, I'm not sure what I'd dig. Suspect I'll be picking things up and putting them down, unfinished, but I'm always willing to listen to recommendations.
