Oh, this is just TOO sad. She's been a big part of my life since I discovered Doctor Who in 1984 ("The Sontaran Experiment" actually) and she will be so, so missed.

"the director didn't think he could get the emotional performances he needed."
The Doctor Who / Stargate mash-up shirt reminds me to remind everyone to attend the TIMEGATE convention in Atlanta on Memorial Day Weekend! We've got Sophie "ACE" Aldred in attendance, as well as Who writers Andrew Cartmel and Ben Aaronovitch, and Stargate stuntman Mike Dupod, among many others. Check us out!
There was a rumor in the 1980s that Christopher Bailey was a pen-name for Kate Bush. I am so totally not making this up! Check it out: [www.sfx.co.uk]
Random connection - Richard Conway, who did the model work for "The Seeds of Doom," later went on to create the incredible miniature effects that were cut out of "Little Shop of Horrors." They also involved giant talking carnivorous tentacled plants attacking buildings. Go figure!
Looking at how lousy Box looks, I would just like to show him to everybody who ever rags on classic Doctor Who's effects. If that's what Hollywood thought was acceptable in 1976, all of a sudden the Zygons and Daleks look a whole lot better.
Now you're into 1960s Dr Who territory!
This was the plot (or rather, the ostensible plot, until the twist was revealed) of the Jon Pertwee episode "Doctor Who - Invasion of the Dinosaurs."
Yes, or men's / military fashion is, at least.
There was a distinct decision behind the new series of Doctor Who adopting a "plain clothes" approach to the future - it's that every attempt to come up with "futuristic" looking fashions seem incredibly ludicrous in 20 years. Silver lamé, bell-bottomed jump suits, Star Treck pajamas, etc...
The North Korea passages in that book continue to haunt me. Great stuff. I am also VERY intrigued to find out what went on at the China Lake research facility.
Man, I HATE those new Daleks!
Part 5, 9:50 - all my life I have watched these movies, but now I know that the dude inside the tall black Mos Eisley droid was totally handsome!
In Part 3 at 3:18, Hamill says Lucas was having "joint interviews" with De Palma, and somebody pipes up "I bet!" Ah, drug humor... :)
The funny thing is, that Yeti one is the one I remember to this day. SQUISH!
Me-ow!
I am from East Tennessee, and my dad and I saw two of these in a stream in Clinton, TN when I was a kid. We would have caught them but had no way of transporting them. I never heard of anything else like it, so I had pretty much convinced myself it was a dream or something. Nice to know it was the real deal!
@skywalker993: I think a lot of folks have very skewed images of what a fit male body should look like.
Metropolis, really?
@Alasdair Wilkins: He looks really surprised, too!
