Giant Days TPB 3:
Few series make me feel as warm and happy as Giant Days. They're the equivalent of crawling under a blanket and watching a good comedy. Funny and smart, with a lot of heart in there too.

Last week's beach trip was lots of fun but I ended up being pretty badly burned. Healed just in time for this weekend's big hike. I'm having one of the most active summers in my life (by accident) which is good and all but I'm definitely looking forward to next week's 5-day national holiday. This weekend we're…
Started Rise of the Tomb Raider but didn't have much time and related to that, not much energy either for something story-focused so I'll keep my thoughts on that game until I have more to say on it. It's the kind of game I want to pour a couple of hours into at a time and after a while, like The Witcher 3, I can…
With the right company, it might be yeah.
I stick to more conventional couch co-op games like Helldivers and Chariot. That last one will test your relationship, in a fun way! (but seriously, it's dangerous)
This! I keep telling Trump-supporters (you have them outside of America as well) how he's never not once said anything concrete.
I'd advise not to read that transcript. There's a lot of "bash your head against the wall and hope you wake up from this nightmare" type stuff in there. All you can say about Trump talking is, yes, they are words.
"So I deal with foreign countries, and despite what you may read, I have unbelievable relationships with all of the foreign leaders. They like me. I like them. You know, it’s amazing. So I’ll call, like, major — major countries, and I’ll be dealing with the prime minister or the president. And I’ll say, how are you…
Sounds close to how a friend of mine described it.
What surprised me the most is that after-hours, they'd continue drinking (hard) with staff or going to acquainted bars/restaurants. It sounded like a lot of fun but also extremely exhausting. Made me think it takes a certain kind of personality to work in the…
That's the problem with all jokes. You have to assume a certain level of "knowledge/wit" from the audience to understand what you're trying to do. It's finding that balance that separates the good from the great.
That's the joke.
Songs For The Deaf is one of my favourite albums and was defining for young, high school me. I went back after that and really grew to love Rated R.
Don't think I have to choose between the two, they're so different. I think Songs for the Deaf is Major Rock Cannon. I respect the ballsy experimentation in Rated R as…
I'm growing very fond of the game. It's relaxing and the voice-over philosophy bits are moving. Not a game I'll play for hours at end but it's one I see myself coming back to for a long time.
Would you put Everything in it as well? Walking simulator is a far too limiting box even if you do nothing but walk/somersault forwards. Environmental narrative seems a great description for it, encompassing well… everything and anything.
I don't like Funko Pop's but I do love Gilmore Girls. Looked it up, saw that weird hair they give her and don't want it anymore.
What a roller coaster ride.
Virginia borrows so much from Twin Peaks that it feels like an hommage at times but by itself, it still stands. Like you say, the imagery holds enough subtlety and interpretations to be worthy of analysis.
I really liked Virginia to be honest. It compensates for the passiveness of a walking simulator with interesting editing and imagery as well as visual style (for me at least it's beautiful to look at). I go back and forth on the storytelling itself but as far as presentation goes and the choices it made, it really…
I have The Face of Another lying around as well, I should really get around to that one.
Small correction: Shinzo Abe.
Kobo Abe is a writer, who wrote The Box Man, about a man living in a box. Pretty good book.
That's an amazing story. Very film-like as well, in a good romantic way. (give or take the waittress prelude, haha)
I don't remember if I did. Is it the jumping around tracks? Because I remember that throwing me off a bit. Didn't have time this weekend but will definitely give it a go this week and see if I can progress.
