Had a day off and started up Return of the Obra Dinn this morning. I had to force myself away to do some chores and shopping. It’s extremely engrossing, on the condition that you commit and really engage with the characters and story. This game doesn’t give away its secrets easily.
Either that, or I am terrible. Apart

Remnant: From The Ashes. That friend and I got really into so we even started planning game sessions in the evening whenever our schedules allowed (is this growing up?). Managed to get in several hours that way, enough that we actually beat the game a first time.
It’s not a very long game and meant to be replayed

Welcome!

Nice to see you again in these parts!

Yeah, the only thing so far that feels like a miscalculation is the traversability of the environment. Sometimes, I’ll ride one way just to discover the whole mountain range is blocking my path across. There’s a gap between using in-game markers and the map’s topography that feels incoherent. That’s the only big thing

With last week’s horrible tyfoon (I wasn’t near Tokyo so it was pretty mild here thankfully), I mostly spent the three-day weekend gaming and doing household tasks. A friend and I bought Remnant From The Ashes and we got waaay into it. It’s always easier to get into a game when you’re doing co-op but that’s giving

Bought the game and played about 10 hours last weekend with a friend. We love it! I first heard about the game here so I just wanted to give a shout-out and say thanks.

Killer Queen Black sounds like such a cool game to try out with friends. 8 would be difficult but a solid 4 to 6 people should be possible if I ever get the chance.

Yes.

I think that QoL-bit is hitting it on the head.

Good points. I didn’t mean to say ALL SNES games have antiquated gameplay. I know/played Mario as well and those controls and levels are still as fun as they were back then. The JRPG is a great example of what I consider terrible design.
RogueIndy put some more nuance in my comment, saying it comes down to design

Yeah, as a character Chloe is just a lot more present. BtS really has a beautiful arc of her still being in that child/teenager transition where she is rebelling but still has kiddy stuff on the walls and bed. Then in the final montage, we still “our” Chloe emerge.
The Tempest stuff was kinda lost on me (my only

I’m glad to see Metal Goose Solid make its return. I read your post from last week a few days ago and it was a beaut! Seriously, I could see the images before my eyes.

That’s a lovely sentiment to end up at after re-evaluating your own perceptions. I’ve never particularly cared for 8-bit graphics and when I was young, I didn’t have the knowledge or capital to collect a lot of Gameboy games or know which ones were good (thanks, James Bond 007!, the closest game to Zelda I ever

My ongoing effort to tackle my backlog is chugging along. After some story-heavy, gameplay-lite games, I jumped into Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor.
The first time I tried this game, I played through the prologue/tutorial. All was well, learning to slice and dice and all that. Then the prologue ends, I’m on some tower

Ah man, I loved the Southern Reach trilogy. They actually make a reference to it? The reasons to buy just keep piling up.

I played both around the same time and had the exact same thought. I finished Titan Souls even with all the backtracking because the game was pretty responsive and I felt I could do it.
Jotun on the other hand just felt sooooo slow. I quit a few hours in. A shame because that game is beautiful and I just wanted to SEE

That just adds more praise to it. Should I break my purchase embargo for this game? Maybe....

I’ve been bamboozled several times by your avatar as well. Don’t know who was first and it doesn’t matter. All I can say is. Sweet pic, bro. Take care, bro.

Thanks for the warning. Hadn’t thought about that but now the Switch-thing went from a side-note to an actual “wait to buy” reason. Everything gets ported these days to the Switch, hopefully it sells well enough to warrant one too.
