As a big fan of this silly show I agree entirely. I love Nathan Fillion but this show is about his character AND Stana Katic’s. No Stana? No reason to watch.

I’d add one clarification:
We need to teach beyond no means no and yes means yes. You’ll notice above that neither yes nor no were present. We need to teach that anything other than yes is no. “I need to think about it”= No. “Maybe some other time”= No. “I’m not sure”= No. “...”= No.
Your child did not desend into autism. Stop it, seriously, your child is more than just a dx. To treat autism in such a way is degrading and wrong. Your child had autism from birth. That’s how autism works. Around the time children get their vaccinations is about the time they start missing milestones a hallmark of…
ALSO - from a person with a severe immunodeficiency - thanks to all who vaccinate. Along with keeping yourself safe, you keep me safe too.
Oh fuck off.
So you think that we Autistic women don’t exist?
Anti-vaxx movement stands against Autistic people by pushing harmful propaganda that promotes fear and prejudice towards Autistic people, the anti-vaxx movement has also seen a sea of money being used to disprove the myth of a connection between vaccines and autism -…
I’m going to just repost what I said yesterday over on Gawker’s article. I’ve highlighted the part that any anti-vaxxer reading this should pay close attention to.
Three funny stories:
Go take your crazy anti-vax somewhere else. Actually, don’t. Because when you refuse to vaccinate your children you are putting the entire population at risk. Guess what, crazy anti-vax person, YOU are the reason measles and other deadly diseases are making a comeback. YOU are the reason people will die, because you…
The answer to your questions are:
In Japan (and possibly other Asian cultures) the tradition is for the more prominent family name to be taken. So if I am a male and I marry a woman who's father runs a local business I will most likely take her family name. An additional fun nugget, in Japan women are traditionally in charge of a family's finances and…
Honestly, the idea that my fiance would have to “allow” me do anything weighs pretty heavily in my wanting to keep my own name. I do think that if things were more even overall, it would be a less fraught choice and I would be *more* likely to consider taking his. Also! Congrats on the upcoming wedding/strong…
I lucked out - my wife and I don’t want kids and she is a published scientist, so keeping her last name was the obvious choice. If you’re comfortable enough to occasionally be called “Mr. (your wife’s last name)“ then I recommend this approach highly. She even asked if I wanted her to take my name, which... just no.…
While I understand the unity/child surname issue, my biggest issue with the name change is how infrequently it happens in reverse. How many men would be happy changing their surname to that of their wife?
My college roommate and his wife choose a random third last name and both changed theirs, showing preference to neither family. Opening up the choice to any possible combination of letters might be a bit overwhelming, but it seems they were both huge Natalie Merchant fans, so it worked out for them.
Yeah that seems to be the best solution, but I’m still kinda pouty about the idea that my kids won’t have my last name and I like my last name more than my husband’s. His is fine, but mine is MINE and it’s more elegant to say.
The Mrs (using this loosely, folks) and I are planning to combine our two last names into one name when we get married.
Grover and Satterthwaite will become Groverthwaite.
