Yeah, the “Great article, Writer X!” comments are the equivalent of yelling, “First!” there.

Athletic subscriber here. Another problem with The Athletic is that the majority of its materials are third-rate puff-pieces, like Shams Charania’s agent-approved press releases, or local beat-writer sugarcoated dross. One of the worst ones was Joe Vardon’s facile interview-profile piece with Pete Buttgieg and Brad…
They’ve got a comment section, though I would say 60%+ of them are “stick 2 sprots” types.
My suggestion was intended for coffee shops where the squatting problem is far more common. Ordering something every hour or so is a common (unsaid) rule already, and coffee shops usually don’t have enough staff to make “take-your-order” rounds more than once an hour anyway.
For casual take-out/eat-in shops, patrons…
WiFi limits help, but unlimited data plans and tethering means the most dedicated squatter can still squat. Blocking outlets just pisses people off, and some of us are good about bringing extension cords to coffee shops.
My suggestion:
LeBron: “[Griffin] became very selfish, Proudy, and those who shows me Attitude, I keep them under my Foot…… Huuhhh…….Now RObert TOdd Pelinka is my best friend……Its for information to all.”
Still sounded 73% less stupid because it was said in British English.
Yeah, that’s fine. The basic idea is to recognize staff members have their own lives and routines too, so just be considerate when it’s getting close to closing time.
Haha, I assume you’re trying to be humorous by twisting my words around. As a considerate human being, I generally tip 20% and follow my rule above, so I avoid sit-down restaurants if there’s less than 30 minutes before closing.
But sometimes it can’t be helped and you have to go to a sit-down restaurant right before…
My rule is:
If you can’t order, eat, and pay by 10 minutes before closing, then don’t go in to a proper, full-service restaurant. That’s what fast food and all-night diners are for.
And if it can’t be helped and your server is scrambling to get your order taken care of, leave a generous tip. But you should know that…
The British get drunk more than any other people in the world according to a recent study, though 51.1 times/year seems ridiculously(?) high.
No, that’s not right. The Knicks were perfectly in their rights to turn down the offer Lin got from the Rockets, especially since they were catering to Melo’s egotistical whims as Team Face Leader of the Madison Square Garden ™ Franchise©.
NBA Owners: Fix your lack of organization competence and accountability. Tampering isn’t the problem.
Solving problems of bad ownership and an unfair labor playing field by doing away with the lottery, the draft, and the rookie wage scale is too drastic given that there’s only 10-12 players who are good enough to lead a championship team. Since the best free agents will base their decisions on teams’ recent…
I think a lot of these owners, especially new ones, think with their ego first and only learn about the league rules and norms second.
Tilman Fritatta of the Rockets is a good example: buys the team for $2B, and then immediately orders Morey to go below the tax even though they were the team with the best chance of…
Kate was an easy call, though John’s Two-Hearted selection was on point.
But “supermarket beer” is pretty contingent on the supermarket and its selection; I was surprised to see Fat Tire as a “supermarket” beer while there are other craft-y breweries that have plenty of supermarket distribution that weren’t selected.
I…
Not sure if you’re referring to the NFL, the NBA operates on a different business model where local TV deals account for a good chunk of their revenue. Having a good team and a competent front office business ops play a huge role in getting a good TV deal.
Plus, owners might not want to lose money on their teams, but…
Agreed, both the lease/relegation proposals I quoted are unlikely to work.or legal and business reasons. I’m stumped as to what a solution might look like, but it’s clear that ownership and management is the real problem, not tampering.
