Focusing on the owners’ meeting overlooks an important point: how to improve ownership and management. Free agency showed that, if the money is right, the most desired players sign with teams that are well-run. KD, Kyrie, Kawhi, and Kemba didn’t sign elsewhere because the Knicks didn’t tamper good. It’s because Dolan

Best left over fast food: cold-cut sandwiches, like the grilled lemon chicken sub on ciabbata I get at Wegmans. The pickles, oil/vinegar, and pepper in the sandwich basically re-marinates the chicken and if I forget and leave the sandwich out for an hour before putting in the fridge, the cheese will congeal and bind

...shouldn’t it be “falls ass-backwards?”

so sure, ask the server to intercede on your annoyed behalf, just like you would with any kind of other issue.

5000 words is too long for this site, but The Takeout folks should at least respond to the email offer if it seems like it’s being made in good faith. If the essay seems well-researched/sourced on a newsworthy topic, they can always tell piece pitchers on what an appropriate length is and other necessary parameters.

I lived in Columbus, which isn’t even in the top 10 American cities, but look at the pictures and you will see how nice it looks

Food at festivals are usually rip-offs, whether if they’re à là carte or one of those multi-ticket sampler kinds.

At best, you wait in line for so long that you only have enough time/money to try two things that you can get more quickly/cheaply/tasty better outside. At worst, it’s an outright scam, like this New York

I bet light would travel faster if someone would just think to put wings on them.

Well I think the supermax salary has to count for some portion of the cap: think how many good/starters/useful role players Golden State could load up with if Steph and Klay’s supermaxes don’t count towards the cap? It’ll also aggravate the wealth gap between the big and small markets, since only the richest teams

The problem with the supermax is that the true superstars like LeBron and KD will still be underpaid and generate enough off-court money that they’d rather have the flexibility to play where they want, with whom they want.

For “stars,” players #10-20 who aren’t good enough to be leading stars on a championship team,

Somewhere, Rex Ryan is scrambling to find a way to superimpose his face onto Shaq’s in that footage.

Alright, just to take a step back: I do appreciate efforts to have a conversation on issues. Too often the most-celebrated comments are smarmy one-liners, even for serious stories. But (at least to me) you did come across as condescending, even if that was not your intention. I’m willing to call it quits if you are.

I don’t know why you are reshaping my words in a negative light: I am pro-employee benefits but think they should be covered in the base price, not through surcharges. If a restaurant finds it necessary to raise the price of a burger by $2 to cover employee benefits, I will tip 20% on that new price. I’m not going to

If I’m having hamburger patties, eggs, a starch, and some kind of gravy for breakfast, I’ll take a loco moco ahead of this ulceric monstrosity, thank you very much.

$2.50 is the portion you are being charged for ALL of the employees benefit. If you want to deduct your server’s portion from your tip, divide $2.50 by the number of employees participating in the benefits program and subtract that number from the tip.

Salty is nuts if she thinks the question is: “should I tip 20% on the pre- or post-surcharge figure?” The correct answer is to calculate the tip and then deducting this fee.

I support employees getting paid benefits and a good wage and am happy to pay more (and have done so) to patronize establishments that look out

I just witnessed the most dangerous plague in Western history! The Black Death set death records for Europe, wiping out 30-60% of Europe’s population and reducing the world population from 450M to 350-375M.

Exciting times!”

I see two great houses...feuding.

Beware the red-headed one:

Since there’s nothing left to add to this ghostwritten feel-good, out-of-touch Davos internationalism:

One of my seminar professors in undergrad scored a “class meeting” with Kissinger at 7:30am on a Friday. So we all had to wake up at 3am just so we can get on the coach bus at 4am to get into New York in time for the

I would never have pegged Kissinger at Burning Man.
