Generally, an article runs a few days earlier, asking for recommendations, and the first 10-20 “good” ones make the cut and end up being published.

I don’t think you’ll see the post CVT Subies hitting 250k regularly. There’s enough service bulletins and warrantee extensions to make it pretty clear that the current crop of Subies won’t set any odometer records going forward. But, they will get used pretty hard for whatever miles they have in them. Sadly, their…
I live in an area where by far the most common vehicle on the road is a Suburu Outback or similar because it is legitimately the perfect vehicle for winding, high-wind, snowy mountain roads. They’re just billy goats. And seeing them with 250K+ on the odometer is very common around here.
A fairly comprehensive and modestly amusing list. My thanks and congrats to your readers, from which these features (“article” would be too generous) are sourced. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I really love Calum’s videos, and it’s always nice to see the LeTourneaus getting attention. They were really interesting pieces of machinery. Also great that he made it up to AK; we have snacks and everything!
I remember the bunker-building craze from years ago but, afaik, they were modest affairs. I just Googled and apparently this is the latest billionair trend: massive bunkers with all of the bells and whistles. Well, of course they are. The wealthy are such freaking cowards. They can’t face the consequences of their own…
It seems like everything is moving toward people literally never having to leave their homes for anything. Except that people can’t afford homes. I never used a Redbox. I miss the evenings when I could spend up to an hour browsing in the DVD rental stores. You could actually meet people; talk about movies you liked. Wa…

His sister’s statement on his death gave a few more (likely) key details: “Rebecca tells us her brother suffered from depression, bipolar disorder and had a sleep disorder that often kept him awake for days.”
“...having their health care coverage reportedly shut off despite having paid their premiums...”
That sounds like DIVX but with extra steps... and we all know how well DIVX worked out for Circuit City.
They could save some money by switching to Top Ramen for the soul.
So, like Netflix, they probably have a decent cache of actual DVDs, some of which may even still be playable. What’s going to happen to those? I suppose they must have always had a way to repurpose them, unless they just have a giant warehouse of Green Lanterns and Life of Pi. Did they sell them to libraries or…
Unless you live by one of the few remaining independent video stores, the only place to rent physical media anywhere is GameFly.
I’m really surprised Redbox has even lasted this long. The Redbox at the store I work at hasn’t even changed the film lineup in over a year. I never see anyone take anything out.
people everywhere with a fetish for peering frustratedly at sun-damaged touchscreens while standing in a trash-strewn CVS parking lot
They didn’t really get going until 1927, and worked regularly as a team until the early 1950s. Everything up to 1929-ish is in the public domain now, but that’s not even close to “most of” their work.
