But Clara died. She’s dead, kaput, gone. Killed by the raven. Just happens to be a little bit busy until that final second. He hasn’t avoided her death, just given her a little more time before she has to go through with it.

Except that’s not how it works with Doctor Who - it is a show that works hard to continually pick up new viewers, young and old. It’s not designed to only keep the viewers it has. So, that statement is kind of redundant.
