Every language has acronyms and abbreviations o_o
Sr. o Srta. in Spanish for Señor and Señorita, Mme, M., or Mlle. for Madame, Monsieur and MaDemoiselle.. It's not at all an inherent thing in English that renders it tougher than other languages.
