I saw them on a whim (full disclosure - I am not a huge Simpsons fan) in February. It was one of the most fun sets I've seen in my 30~ years of going to shows. I was a complete fan by the end of the set.

I honestly think that scene is more for the Lee/Tim/Dawn witness of the line than anything else.

I think it would certainly damage the narrative. While I would love to see more of these characters (always), I like to think that the final talking head of Tim's is the definitive end to the series. To only be able to speculate where they are in 2013 I think is best for me.
