Good hamburgers? I was too afraid to stop and get gas there, but to actually stop, sit down, and offer them a chance to poiso — I mean, risk being abducted by aliens...

Unfortunate. Mostly empty is one thing. When I drove through on 6, I only saw 2 cars over 150 miles, and the only time I had to slow down was due to some cows sunbathing in the middle of the road (took a while to realize that open range did not refer to prospects of getting shot).

Might I suggest a detour through Route 6, with perhaps a few goes of the extra-terrestrial highway? Loooooooong straights with a few curves connecting to the next straight, and no cars, let alone cops... Just don't stop by the place with the UFOs — sketchy.

No, he's asking that motorcycles be treated the same way as cars, since they are subject to the same laws. When the state passes a law, but enforcement is left to the discretion of the police officers, it is an abuse of power to discriminate against one group vs. another.

Did you read the part where they talk about the use of a nanomaterial composite as the battery, which is also supposed to reduce weight? That, to me, at least, means no lithium batteries. If you're really confused about how this works, google "graphene battery"

A battery does not necessarily have any electronics inside it. Just a material that can store electrons, and that does not necessarily get "rustle"ed in impact. That's why they use supercapacitors to power the emergency exit operation of aircraft doors, which is assume to take place after impact.

You really must miss the old internet at this point... The days before any munchkin from the street could act like an expert while explicitly touting his lack of fundamental education on a topic.

Fuck Fuck Fuck. Now, you won't be able to tell a cop car from a Camry in your rearview. We are all fucked

Sorry, Raph, but cyclists are not the friendliest people.... (I toned that statement down)

Yeah, I get that. Namibia was also a hyperbole for a place like Wyoming. I just don't think Seattle (even its suburbs) have the right to not have fully trained their firemen on the Tesla.

"Every fire station around the world" definitely does not need to know how to put out a Tesla. I mean, I doubt there are that many out in Namibia for them to worry. Considering that Seattle is not known as a faraway spot that no weird, new technological advances end up reaching, I think Tesla has every right to assume

And I'll bet you Musk will come soon and burn Jalopnik down for revenge.

Actually, I had wanted to comment on the original story with the video, but refrained. McIntyre's comment was just too much. This comment thread has shown as much of a mob mentality, perhaps even more (in terms of the number of people actively involved), than the riders in the video.

Fair enough. I understand the reasoning behind that action, but I still believe it to be a gross overreaction that is legally questionable.

I'm going to respond to all 3 of your last comments at once, and then call it quits. Obviously, I never expected anything magical to come of my comments, but I had (stupidly) hoped that one armchair philosopher would be able to show the most basic degree of civility to another, and that my points would either be

You can actually see ~0:45, one of the bikers doing something with the car (pulling on a handle, ramming it, I could not tell); this was pointed out by someone further down the thread. I agree that the video does not make it clear. I just wish the other posters would refrain from congratulating the driver on

Wouldn't they run into an issue when trying to prove that a specific rider was actually the one riding the motorcycle? They all have helmet, and I failed to see anyone with a conveniently noticeable limp or anything...

In response to the similarly lofty talk of all other posters and commenters here. Only difference is I made an argument and argued it, and magically managed to refrain from making derogatory comments about the other posters (or wishing they get mouth cancer — that was a nice touch)

No, I missed that video. I just brought it up because I generally find people's lackadaisical attitude about the lethal potential of cars (more like a tank in this case) frightening, especially as a commuting cyclist and pedestrian.

Very true. Why am I less of an expert than the rest of the armchair lawyers here? At least I bothered to look up the law and take it into consideration.
