This is one of the most earnest, beautiful, and emotional tributes to Trek I’ve read.

This week should be a week long holiday where we don’t have to work and just sit around and watch Star Trek and debate who the best captain is (Kirk with Sisko second) or what the best starship is (refit Enterprise/Enterprise-A all the way)...

Well I would agree that if the Enterprise had been redesigned that way I would not have been happy. But the ship design itself has always appealed to me, and seeing it in the test footage was - at least for me - a special moment I had waited for since I first saw McQuarrie’s drawings for Trek.

Getting a series title and a gorgeous bit of test footage for a ship design I’ve wanted to see up close and “real” for years was the highlight of the weekend for me.

It would be cool to have. Once every three months when I cleaned it off and threw away everything that piled on top of it I would be reminded of its coolness. Also, it would be covered again within hours so the novelty would take a LONG time to wear off.

When my daughter was 3 years old I taught her that the only way to kill a zombie was “hit it in the head”. I saw the shock and horror from my family for teaching my daughter to say such a horrible thing. But she had no context for what it really meant. For her it was just something funny that she and I could say and

A) I didn’t think anything in Civil War was out of the blue. His attraction to Sharon was already set up. B) The awkwardness of the Sharon/Steve kiss in Civil War is not a problem. I think that’s kind of the point. Especially with Steve. He was never a ladies man before the super soldier serum, then he fell in love

I want them to call it Crisis on Infinite CW Prime Time Scheduling Slots

As much as I have loved Craig as Bond, I am ready for a change. His dour and stern seriousness was a nice change of pace from Brosnan, but I’m ready to mix things up. And while Connery is my favorite Bond, Moore was my first. So if we could call back to him some, I would enjoy the shit out of that.

I think my only nitpick is that there is something not quite right about Vader in the picture. Like he had a stroke or his Bell’s Palsy was flaring up. Something.

I love io9. I absolutely do. There are some incredibly talented people who write for this site. And every one of their posts would be infinitely improved with Bricken interjecting in every article like he was a bitter old man trying to yell at us from the other room.

That picture with that headline is pure gold.

I would support this 100%

My wife, who has very little interest in anything comic book related, laughed out loud at the wide shot of the car in the corn field. It was enough to give me hope that she might watch this with me.

That’s funny, because I thought the same thing. The comparison doesn’t feel exactly right, but it’s the best this Monday morning will let me come up with.

My first nerd rage moment was as a six year old watching Empire Strikes Back in the theaters and hearing Darth Vader tell Luke he was his father. I was so pissed. I did not rage-quit Star Wars, but I suspect my stunted emotional development as a human being could be from the 3 years I spent in denial, and the period

I really struggled with getting my daughter to like the same stuff as me. She latched onto Doctor Who at a young age, but has only come into her own as a Star Wars fan in the last couple years. And try as I might she has no interest in Star Trek. That said, though, she is her own person. And once I learned that lesson

The Horus Heresy. I really enjoyed seeing the fall of Horus in the most pivotal storyline to affect the 40K universe, but then after the Flight of the Eisenstein it felt like they were spending too much time on the minutia around the Empire, and not enough time actually moving towards the showdown between Horus and

God I can’t wait to see Batman break the 4th wall, and then have Lois Lane and Superman strap-in (on? <nudge><nudge><wink><wink>) for their gratuitous and super-sexy sex scenes....
