" she comes across as a white guy's perception of a black woman from watching blaxpoitation films."
If you want to bring that up, Aragorn and Roland are pretty similar character wise
Viggo Mortenson.
Detta literally tries to kill both Roland and Eddie because they're white, and they have issues with Detta re-emerging all the way almost to the end of the final book.
I don't even see how they are going to do this as a film anyways.
I mean, how do you change Detta's character? Her being a black woman from the 1950s/60s is part of the core of her character.
None of it would make sense. Susannah being black in the 1950/60s and being a byproduct of the racism of those times is pretty important to her character, as is Roland being a blue eyed white guy in their interactions.
Detta is a negative stereotype because she is SUPPOSED to be a negative stereotype, just as Odetta is supposed to be a negative stereotype as well.
I dunno. Total Rickall was pretty out there ridiculous.
This isn't even the best episode. There's 2-3 in the 1st season that are better, and an earlier one from this season that's way better, and another that's arguably better.
