I think Joan Jett’s response as an adult all these years later, which has been to discredit the account rather than say “We were young and this was a fucked up time. I wish the best for Jackie.” Regardless of what adolescent Joan and Cherie could or could not have done, neither of them are the kind of women I’d want

Wow.

Sorry, I don’t buy that teenage girls- in an era when rape wasn’t as clearly defined as it is now- would’ve beat up an older man in a position of power who was capable of destroying their careers and reputations (not to mention capable of sexually assaulting them, too). A more realistic scenario is that they saw what

So, humor me for a moment. Given that I could easily find racist, homophobic, sexist comments on almost any relevant Gawker article...does that mean Gawker Media “caters” to them and enables - nay - supports it? Are you serious?

Kinda sad... She seems like a genuinely good person. And I hate to see her give any satisfaction to the douches who were screaming “cunt” at her.

You do realize of all those subs you listed have a very small amount of subscribers relative to the majority of reddit. For example: The redpill just over 120k. Where as the biggest FEMINIST subreddit ( https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromoso… ) has 3,141,532.

Ellen Pao faced unfair criticism and a lot of terrible comments and hate by many redditors, that cannot be denied.

Okay but more importantly they are making a movie based on Amos Oz’s amazing memoir A Tale of Love and Darkness?!?!? That is one of my favorite memoirs of allll tiiiime! Anyone read it?

Ok, we get it, Jezebel hates Reddit - but seriously, given the HUGE number of people on it and the extremely diverse range of topics that are discussed, it’s a bit much to lumb the whole lot in together and smother it with scorn and loathing. Personally, it’s not my thing. But my sisters are both on it and love it

The basic gist seems to be that Pao wanted to commercialise the AMAs but Victoria was uncomfortable with the idea as it could damage the community aspect of the AMAs which is what made them so popular in the first place, so Pao got rid of her.

This article is an absolute disgrace to journalism, and the comments below show an absolutely disgusting lack of understanding of how reddit works, coupled with a literally insane brand of self-righteousness.

Well I’m sure it was a “well written” article but after characterizing the entirety of Reddit as “creepers and fans of up skirt shots” in the first sentence I refused to read further. I use Reddit daily for a great many thing. Things like /r/ aspergers for support and advice. Same for subreddits of several games I

Rumor is she did not want to do pay to play AMAs and did not want to move to SF from NY. They also fired the guy who did the reddit secret santa. Overall, it shows contempt for their users and moderators.

Rediit baddddd. *snarky comments* feminism. ....and manbabies lol amright..

“Maybe we’ll luck out and the worst of Redditors will have such a massive tantrum that it will be blacked out forever. “

You know, the whole “everyone on reddit is a terrible person” thing is really wearing thin. Are the people helping others with depression, or offering personal loans, or giving advice, or teaching foreign languages creepers and upskirt fans?

There are people posting about how much Reddit sucks right now on a site whose CEO personally defended posting a sex tape of two people engaging in private, consensual (if a little messed up ethically) intercourse.

I’ll share favorite “creeper” subreddit...

“Reddit, a popular site for Gawker Media to complain about while cribbing content...”

Boohoo I can’t threaten people on the internet.

Do these idiots understand that Redditt is not a monarchy. An entire group of people decided on this anti bully policy and a HUGE population of Redditt support this.
