If we’re bringing real-world logic into it, MI-6's whole plot in Casino Royale is unnecessary.

A)  It was not a film production standard, it was specifically a rule developed because of how Whedon had behaved toward Trachtenberg.

The studio didn’t use Whedon’s contributions to X-Men other than a couple of lines of dialogue.

Obviously all the good parts of America fled to Canada!

Yeah, I don’t personally understand the idea that somebody who is very obviously acting out of massive, massive trauma is beyond redemption. Even were that not the background of her actions, I don’t think a person is beyond redemption.

The annual joke swap was the duo’s main focus tonight, though, as each (according to them, and I choose to believe) read out jokes written by the other which the reader has never seen.

The first great episode of the show comes right as Whedon leaves, which seems like a fitting reminder of the great talent that Joss is apparently content to squander by being an asshole.

Very solid Silence of the Lambs riff, especially the use of Judas Priest as they enter the house.

There are one or two awkward bits (a big one being that Cuaron never actually bothered to establish that James and co. were the Marauders in Prisoner of Azkaban, something all the subsequent movies treat as established canon), but mostly they do work on their own.

Creatively benefited, maybe, but commercially nothing beats the movies.

There actually WAS a successor to the Harry Potter film franchise: it was Game of Thrones, which offered a darker, more adult fantasy novel adaptation to the same kids who had grown up on Potter and who were now 20something adults.

I actually like Part 1 more than Part 2; the former is obviously slower, but it has some of the best character work of the entire series.

No plug for Spielberg’s actual upcoming attempt at a musical? Obviously not up on the sponsored content game.

Although he was born in Boston, so much of his career has been spent in Canada that most people just reasonably presume that he’s Canadian

If you’ve seen the first movie you’ll recall Erskine’s primary concern was the responsibility to wield power effectively — Cap is meant to embody the nation’s ideals while kicking ass.  The methods he uses to kick ass are secondary; also, Sam can fly, which is a step up on Steve in some ways.

Captain America is a moral title, more than anything. What specifically his powers are is irrelevant.

One obviously doesn’t know the Angolans’ opinions on democracy, but it’s not hard to figure their opinions on freedom.

Stupider decision:

Silver Linings Playbook tried to market itself as a drama rather than a romcom, even though if you look at the bones of the thing it’s clearly the latter.

D&D are “cool moment” writers, when left to their own devices. Logical setup and consequences are not things they let get in the way of those.
