I do have to worry about those problems, I deal with confidential data that can never go public, and I have people wanting to use their iphones on my network.
Some of us have to deal with confidential data going back and forth between devices and this qualifies as the stupidest "Feature" ever for apple.
One thing to keep in mind as far as the obscure password rules. People, when left to their own devices, have one password they use for everything.
Oftentimes as not those policies are made up by people that have exceptions made for them, and the guy on the first level help desk feels like an idiot for trying to enforce rules that make absolutely no sense at all.
