When I worked for a national healthcare organization, I had to sign a document that I would never speak to the media. Any media requests had to be funneled through the proper channels, and if in the rare event they wanted me to speak to the media, I would have a very strict script to stick to. Any violation of those

Ah, didn’t realize HBO had more than one channel/platform for streaming. Thanks!

I like to remind people that children don’t ask to be born, and they don’t get to choose their circumstances. The parent(s) involved make that choice. It is a huge responsibility to bring someone into a world that they had no choice to enter.

We use our Amazon Prime on our Roku, and subscribe to HBO through prime. Works just fine that way for us. YMMV.

Absolutely love this.

I was in college, a driver for a local politician who was running for U.S. House of Representatives. He was just “a guy I knew” and it didn’t hit me at the time what a big deal it was he was running for national office. I got the driver gig because a friend was an intern/staffer, and no one else wanted to drive around

I felt like I was stimulating the economy MORE when I was working from home during the early lockdown. All of the in-home updates, buying home office furniture, more energy consumption, more groceries (because somehow being cooped up in the house = feeling like I need to eat constantly), more “treat yourself” items to

Seriously! $10/day? So at 5 days/week for 50 weeks, that’s $2500 annually!

The notes app is a red flag because you could just as easily save someone’s number to your contacts. But then that would make it too real, and where someone else could more easily find it. Notes is a round about and sneaky way to have info that you want to hide from others.

I made the mistake of clicking through some of his “reviews” on Medium linked in the article and....holy...shit...

Understandable. Here’s hoping she gets the support she needs to raise her family without him.

I’m really sorry to hear that. I live in a rural red area of a blue state, so we have a lot of “purple” happening.

Conservative students hosted an anti-BLM event on our campus last week that received local news coverage. One of my students spotted her boyfriend in attendance at the rally, and later told our class that she didn’t know he was a Trumper until then. (Ah, young love). She asked him about the laundry list of issues that

229,932 = the number of people in the U.S. who have died, according to the CDC page you linked here, Harron. Yet in the last paragraph you say that over half a million people have died here, which is incorrect. Please update your post...I assume you meant to say “over a quarter of a million people.”

Update: Dad came through.

I co-opting this thread because I’m too sad from 2 deaths in the family this month to talk about stress. How about something happy for those looking for a distraction? Reply to this with your FAVORITE or most fun/funny/cute/sweet Halloween stories.

Your comment made me scroll back up, find the link, and watch it. I normally roll my eyes at the overly-coifed housewife vibe, but somehow this gave me chills. If they have a platform, and they use it for good (at least this time), then HELL YES.

Right!? How is this film not getting more publicity? Anyone who cares about health but is otherwise on the fence would totally be swayed by watching it, IMO.

Well we live in a state that is guaranteed to go blue, so I’m not worried about his personal vote. But. He’s maybe 19 or 20, and this age group is defined by feeling so resolute in your opinion, which ends up changing over time. People of diverse backgrounds are talking about what this moment in history means to them

Yes, exactly. I realized I needed to do something when a health sciences major wore a MAGA hat to class. During a pandemic. He also moans about having to wear a mask, but wears it and is otherwise polite and doesn’t *say* anything political in class. But the hat says enough. What is my role as an educator besides
