You are correct, we cannot predict the future of otherwise healthy people planning their families. It is guaranteed that someone age 68 has around 20 max, and much likely many fewer, years left. You are setting up your child to watch you die while they are still a child, guaranteed.

I didn’t say anything about single parenthood. And we can’t speculate they are planning that. If they have a baby now, that child WILL see it’s father die while still a minor. Statistically Gere has only a handful of years left but with extremely good health maybe 2 decades tops.

I’m sorry about your loss. But you know very well I’m not talking about otherwise healthy parents who have enough years left when they plan their families. Things and illnesses happen. Bringing a new baby into the world at age 68 is vastly different and you know that.
